Just Say Yes to Fruits and Vegetables collaborates with a variety of organizations at the local, regional, and statewide level. Examples of collaborating organizations include all of the eight regional food banks in New York State, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Emergency Food Assistance Program (EFAP), dietetics programs at several colleges and universities, and many local and regional food security coalitions.
The Just Say Yes to Fruits and Vegetables Project is a collaborative effort between:
- the New York State (NYS) Department of Health (DOH) [ visit ]
- the Division of Nutrition (DON) Hunger Prevention and Nutrition Assistance Program (HPNAP)
- the NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) [ visit ]
- the Regional Food Bank of Northeast New York (RFBNENY) [ visit ]
OTDA, which has statewide oversight of a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Stamp Nutrition Education (FSNE) Grant, awards grants to several agencies offering nutrition education in a variety of forums.
Through a competitive process the Hunger Prevention and Nutrition Assistance Program (HPNAP) received a USDA Food Stamp Nutrition Education (FSNE) Grant from the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) and thereby entered into a professional collaboration with OTDA. In addition, HPNAP maintains working relationships with all of the eight (8) regional food banks in New York State, to coordinate nutrition education interventions with the products they have available for distribution.
HPNAP's grant application identified the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY (RFBNNY) as the contractor that would function as the fiscal conduit for the JSY services provided.
